OTHL team makes winning start in the HI Sub-Junior Nationals

Playing their heart out, the school boys team of Citizen Hockey XI (One Thousand Hockey Legs) made a winning start at the 7th Hockey India Sub-Junior Nationals Championship (Div B) in Bengaluru today. Braving strong rival and hot weather, Citizen Hockey XI team led by defender Zainul Samar of YA Sarvodaya Bal Vidyala, Dr.Ambedkar Nagar, New Delhi, defeated state team of Himachal Pradesh 2-0.

The experimental Delhi OTHL Schools Hockey League has reached its business end. The semifinals were held last Tuesday after three months of non-stop Sunday matches. In the first semifinal Ashok Vihar overcame stiff resistance of new powerhouse Ghittorni to enter the final.
In the second semifinal, Janakpuri set aside the challenge of Mahrauli school. Earlier, Maharauli school also overcame Saket in the Play Off.

Introduction of Sunday League by One Thousand Hockey Legs in Delhi has sent positive signals with respect to bring back drop outs back to hockey fields.
