Hockey India President Releases Delhi OTHL’s Five-Year Brochure

One Thousand Hockey Legs (Delhi Chapter) has completed five years of its operation in Delhi last December. To mark the occasion, OTHL has brought out a 40-page colourful information brochure.

Dr. Narender Dhruv Batra, President, Hockey India, which governs the sport in India, released the Brochure at his chamber yesterday, the 16th March 2016.

OTHL players 14-year old Ajay Singh, his team mate Gautam, goalkeeper Rahul Jha and his class-mate cum forward Tejinder Singh were present when the volume was released.

“Am happy the way the NGO is working and promoting hockey at grass root levels, and we are committed to extend whatever help is expected of us”, said Dr.Batra

Ajay Singh, whose thrilling action in one of our OTHL property tournament figures on the cover, handed over 300 player registration forms to the President.

OTHL Delhi Chapter caters to about 1200 kids in the schools. However, only 300 players were given the honour of registration based on the sole criterion of minimum 3-year playing experience.

It works out one out of 5 players.

Elena Norman, CEO, Hockey India, Cdr Srivastava, Executive Director, Hockey India, also graced the occasion.

Dr. Batra presented all the OTHL kids a souvenir stick where all the six captains of Coal India Hockey India League, have signed.

The boys were really excited to receive it. “I will hang on our wall’ said Rahul Jha.

Salient features of the Brochure.

The opening page contains brief activities that revived hockey in Delhi schools.

It sums up the Delhi OTHL activities thus: ‘Since started in 2010 in Delhi, One Thousand Hockey Legs has distributed free of cost about 5400 hockey sticks, 70 goalkeeping kits and 3400 shin guards besides sports wears. Coaches were sent free of cost to schools for week end training and vacation camps, practice turfs were hired for 40-45 days per year, each of the 24 school hockey teams were given at least five tournament exposures per annum……’

Thereafter the achievements are enumerated in a simple numbers form. Some examples:

- 14: Kids got selected for STC this year
- 15: OTHL kids as ball boys for CIHIL
- 16: Tournaments OTHL played in 2015
