Something to see and cheer about

By OTHL Team, 09/12/2010 21:03:31

We are happy to bring the attention of visitors of this site over our recent activity. It deals with spreading of hockey information to younger generation, the students in schools in particular.

We have recently brought out three publications. These are simple tools to realize Hockey Citizen Group’s objective of creating enlightened hockey followers and players.

A brief of these three publications

  1. 4-colour pamphlet entitled ‘CWG 2010 Silver Medalists Indian team’. This is almost a poster with all the 16 players of CWG, with a brief of their position and place of work. It can be eight-folded and kept in pocket for ready reference. Students are requested to carry this in their pocket daily and see it as many times as possible so that they not only able to connect to hockey stars, but also dream to become one of them in future. Dream is first step to achieve.
  2. It’s a booklet entitled ‘Present Day Hockey Players’. It gives brief write up of and photo of about 24 present hockey team members. This booklet of 28 pages, is small in size, can be carried in pockets to glance it frequently. Contents for this was provided by our volunteer Shashank Gupta.
  3. Its again a booklet entitled ‘The A-B-C of Hockey’, which is a miniature version of previously published work on the same title. This is again 28 pages of small size, can easily hold in pocket.

Photos and other required write up were done by another volunteer, K. Arumugam, who also published on behalf of HCG.

All these three publications were done with an aim to educate hundreds of school children with an informative and spectacle-worth content.

These publications are not meant for only Hockey Citizen Group’s exclusive circulation alone. Any school or educational institutions can approach us with specific proposal to distribute them among their wards.

We will be too glad to oblige.

We are really looking forward to volunteers who can write for us for such future publications.

Print run of each publication is about 7000 each. That is, we are looking at a target audience of about 20,000 students.

We intend to get this distributed in three months’ time. About one thousand copies have already been distributed in Chennai, 500 in Puducherry, two OTHL centres which hosted series of activities in the fortnight gone by.

Developing sustained passion for Hockey by introduction of Hockey to pre and early teenaged children and simultaneously promoting playing sport as a culture and tradition, thereby contributing to develop a sports loving society.
