Kanpur is bracing up for the season's hockey activities.
The schools have just reopened after extended winter vacation.
There are 8 schools in the focus area of One Thousand Hockey Legs
Project Officer for the city Mrs. Mithilesh Gupta has contacted the concerned school authorities, briefed them of what is being planned by us for the season.
She has got positive response from the schools
The program for Kanpur is proposed to be in two phases.
In the first phase, acclimatization of hockey will be the focus.
What we try to do here is, to bring the school children to the ground to start with, provide an expert coach, train them with the basics for about an hour or so, or more.
For this children from two schools will assemble in a school which has better ground facility between them.
This will, in addition, help children develop friendship between them as well.
This phase will be held in the last week of this mon..
This means at least we need four days of regular action.
Phase II will be Competition
Here, each school will play the other school in a school premise.
Large number of student-spectators will be witnessing the matches, and cheer their team.
These campus competitions will be in the second week of February.
Our Project Officer has assured us that she will bend backwards to see the purpose for which the city was selected for hockey promotion will be realized to a large extent.
Here, we start second year of OTHL in Kanpur
