The Right Step

09/04/2009

We need to concentrate on hockey at the school level. To put some perspective, when I passed out from school, there used to be football and hockey grounds to play. Within the past five years, the available playground size shrunk to the size of a basketball court.

Five years further down the line, there will not be space to play even the pebble game 'staapu' in some schools. Naturally, cricket takes over because it is more practical to play galli cricket than galli hockey.

Meet a dedicated Volunteer - Dr. Shankar Chatterjee

04/03/2009

Voluntarism is foundation on which the castle of One Thousand Hockey is sought to be built. We, in the Citizen Hockey Group, seek to reach volunteers through our website (othl.stick2hockey.com) to open hockey teams in schools, where the sport was not played in the recent past.

We made a significant inroad in our quest for nestling volunteers when a professional doctor contacted us for offering his services to OTHL-one of the early birds to come home to this site.

Kolkata: A different place

Recently I was on my maiden visit to Kolkata.

Purpose: Explore the possibilities of how we can start ‘One Thousand Hockey Legs’ on grass root levels.

In many ways, Kolkata is a city of contrasts....
