Playing their heart out, the school boys team of Citizen Hockey XI (One Thousand Hockey Legs) made a winning start at the 7th Hockey India Sub-Junior Nationals Championship (Div B) in Bengaluru today. Hockey Citizen Group, the NGO that brought me to hockey, gave me the responsibility of managing the One Thousand Hockey Legs XI team for the third Delhi State Sub-Junior Championship. I thank HCG wholeheartedly for e assignment on trainee-manager way. This gave me new experience as to how to handle the team, and what are the specific functions of Manager. State Championship provide an excellent opportunity for the hockey kids of each State to showcase their skills, and earn a certificate and medal which will help them move up in career pursuits. Various teams for the 2017 season announced, based on the performance, commitment, competency of kids who participated in the 3-month long Delhi OTHL Sunday Hockey League 2016. These teams will play round the year in various age group competitions. Their performance will be evaluated based on fighting spirit, commitment, and not giving up educationals needs.

The experimental Delhi OTHL Schools Hockey League has reached its business end. The semifinals were held last Tuesday after three months of non-stop Sunday matches. In the first semifinal Ashok Vihar overcame stiff resistance of new powerhouse Ghittorni to enter the final.
In the second semifinal, Janakpuri set aside the challenge of Mahrauli school. Earlier, Maharauli school also overcame Saket in the Play Off.
